Lonely with the Laptop
Yesterday I passed by a pub and I saw all these people sitting at tables, alone, scribbling on their laptops. Sure, I am one of them at times. Yet this time it stroke me, aren't we perchance starting to build a deeper relationship with the computer than with other human beings? Of course, we don't realize it. We think that through Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and the like, we actually communicate with other human beings. Reality is, that we don't. We're simply communicating with the computer, which in turn will probably communicate with the other person. All is well as long as we realize the difference between having a coffee with someone and having a coffee with the laptop.
